peru vacations

Hola, please I want some recommendations I'm traveling to peru on january and I know it's summer there but how it's the wheather in cusco? and I'm thinking about going to the forest too it's going to be too hot?
I have my peru tour with www.totallyperu.com to go to cusco and machupicchu should I have a tour for all the places I want to visit or do you recommend the inka trail?
