prepare your kids mentally for repatriation

Sometimes I think kids suffer more than adults when it's time to repatriate. If they were very small when you moved overseas they may not even remember "home" and may not consider it "home". Kids who are slightly older may fear both leaving friends behind and making new ones. Kids are flexible, but don't take this for granted. Talk to your kids often and ask them how they feel. Let them feel angry or sad if they need to. The hardest thing about repatriating may be helping your kids adjust. But it's important. Start way in advance and prepare them mentally for both departure and arrival.
