Relocating but visiting first in Nov. 2010 to Cuenca

by Chuck Swihart
(Port St Lucie, Florida)

Hi, I will be visiting Cuenca from Nov. 2-Nov. 10. During this time I will be looking for a place to rent, as we hope to move by the end of the year. I have contacted an agent from Cuenca Condo, through Cuencarealestate. Is there other agents I should be contacting?

We are just so over trying to live on a limited income here in South Florida.

We run an Assisted Living Facility and playing the game with the state gov. and their agencies have just gotten to me. I just don't need the crap. It has become paperwork and not care anymore.

So my partner and I have decided for a quieter life, one where we can live on my disability income. Since we are not (cannot) legally married can we use my income for both of us?

As I said I am coming to Cuenca in Nov. and have reservations to stay at the Villa Nova Inn. I will have my computer, no sure what to do about a cell phone. Thought maybe I should wait until I get there and decide. Will be looking for an apt. or house to rent to start. Need a 2-3 bedroom place as we are bringing a friend with us. He lives with us now and has no family so he has asked t come with us.

Oh we will also be bringing our dogs, six small chihuahua's. I know but they are our family.
Thanks for any advice or help.

Chuck.

Help in Cuenca
by: Janelle

Hi Chuck, You may also want to do Dixie's "Getting to Know Cuenca Tour" which you will find on her website www.retire-in-ecuador.com. It is a great tour of where and what to do as an expat and you get to ask her the most reuired questions.

Also I know that rentals are at a minimum in Cuenca. I would suggest that you ask Dixie about a bi-lingual driver who may be able to help you out. The papers are full of rentals and not always listed with the realtors. So maybe they can help you by ringing around.

I have friends that have been able to find great rentals because they have been in town. Not sure about your 6 puppies though as most dont like pets in the house. Wishing you all the very best in your move.
