February 2007 - IMPORT HEALTH REQUIREMENTS OF CHILE FOR DOGS AND CATS EXPORTED FROM THE UNITED STATES
The animals must be accompanied by a health certificate issued and signed by a licensed veterinarian. The certificate shall contain the name and address of the owner, and complete identification of the animal (name, breed, sex and age). Additional information shall include:
Certification Statements:
1. The animal(s) were examined within 15 days prior to departure and found to be free of any infectious diseases.
2. The animal(s) were vaccinated against rabies. The vaccine must be given no greater than 12 months and no sooner than 30 days prior to departure. (The rabies vaccination certificate, which should include date of vaccination, product name and serial number, must accompany the health certificate).
3. The animal(s) were treated against endo- and ecto-parasites.
Other information:
1. The health certificate must be dated and signed by a licensed veterinarian. The veterinarian's
license number must appear on the health certificate.
2. Upon arrival in Chile, the animals may be required to be under official observation for a period of at least 30 days.
3. NOTE: Consulate endorsement is not required for personal dogs or cats.
*For pet certificates Chile indicates that APHIS endorsement is required in every health certificate when a declaration is made that the rabies vaccine is in effect.
