Why we chose to live in Ecuador.

Our first visit to Ecuador was in February 2008. Originally we are from Western Australia and recently we have become residents of Ecuador. On our first visit we fell in love with Cuenca and very quickly bought our beautiful apartment overlooking the Tomebamba River and the mountains. We returned to Australia to settle our matters and say our good byes to family and friends. With only 5 suitcases full of our belongings and some momentos we returned to Ecuador in September of 2008. Now after being here for 9 months we have our residency and are currently living in Ayampe on the Pacific Coast. Ayampe is a beautiful town between Salinas and Manta. We are here because we are partners in a 30 acre beach front development (approximately 150 homes and condos and a Hotel resort). We certainly did not expect this opportunity to arise and it only goes to show that anything is possible. Wow who would have thought that we could afford an apartment in the mountains and rent a great beach house on the coast. If you want to read more about our personal journey into Ecuador check out our site www.retire-in-ecuador.com Even though our site is called Retire in Ecuador we are far from retiring. But know that this is a great place for those who are considering retiring abroad. You could say that Ecuador is international living at it's best.
Ciao and hope you enjoy the read at www.retire-in-ecuador.com John and Dixie
